About

As a Judaic needle artist, I am guided by the principles of הדור מצוה (beautifying the ritual) and מנהג (tradition). To these ends, I employ the skills I’ve gained over the years in embroidery, piecing, appliqué and beading, and incorporate new techniques as I gain expertise in calligraphy, dyeing, fabric painting, and printing. I particularly enjoy incorporating pieces of the past, such as doilies and lace tatted by my grandmother and great aunts, into ritual objects to forge a physical and spiritual bond with previous generations. I enjoy participating in the synagogue life of Tifereth Israel Congregation in New Bedford, MA. I currently chair the Beautification Subcommittee of the House Committee and sit on the Board of TI for a 3 year term that began in June 2006. I attend Shabbat services regularly and frequently chant Haftarah and Torah portions.
